Road to Record: Bryant Goldstone's Journey to Rocky Mountain Race Week Glory
Buckle up, race fans! Bryant Goldstone's ‘73 AMC Javelin is rocketing through the drag-and-drive scene, and his recent performance at Rocky Mountain Race Week 1.0 is legendary.
Bryant Goldstone has solidified his place in drag-and-drive history, becoming the first competitor to win the unlimited/overall class with a six-second average since Larry Larson's triumph at the inaugural Rocky Mountain Race Week in 2015. Goldstone's ‘73 AMC Javelin has been a powerhouse this year, securing three major wins, including Sick Week in February, Sick Summer, and now Rocky Mountain Race Week 1.0.
The Journey to Victory
Goldstone's journey to victory at Rocky Mountain Race Week 1.0 had its challenges. The event kicked off at Tulsa Raceway Park with an impressive 6.81-second run at 216 mph on Sunday, setting the tone for a week of relentless racing. However, the road to glory was fraught with obstacles. Early in the week, Goldstone faced a busted oil pan, fuel injector issues, and problems making boost. Yet, in true champion fashion, he continued to grind out six-second runs, showcasing the resilience and performance of his iconic Javelin.
As the week progressed, Goldstone overcame the busted oil pan en route to Texas Motorplex, where he recorded his best time of the week, a blistering 6.76 at 218 mph. Draggers and drivers alike motored on to stop No. 3 - Thunder Valley Raceway where Goldstone laid down a 6.93 at 180 mph. With two drives left and one track to conquer, the anticipation was palpable.
Thursday's drive was met with alternator issues, but Goldstone powered through to Mo-Kan Dragway, eyeing four potential goals: winning his class, completing an all six-second week, breaking the RMRW average record, and becoming the second competitor with a six-second average. Although his second run at Mo-Kan Dragway came in at 7.342, pushing his average to 6.962, Goldstone completed the circuit and staged his ’73 AMC at Tulsa Raceway, securing his third major drag-and-drive win this year.
The Legacy of Goldstone's Javelin
Goldstone's 1973 AMC Javelin is more than just a car; it's a symbol of perseverance, engineering excellence, and passion for drag racing. With a 6.519-second average at Sick Week, a 6.605-second average at Sick Summer, and a 6.962-second average at Rocky Mountain Race Week 1.0, Goldstone's Javelin has proven to be a formidable competitor.
